Glyn Pot Golf Society

Founded 1953

The society was formed in 1953 by the landlord and a few regulars of the Glyn Arms, a noted hostelry in Ewell, Surrey. What started as an informal match soon evolved into a thriving event contested by an ever growing membership. The original trophy was a modest tankard which is now dwarfed by the addition of numerous bases to accommodate the engraving. The longevity of the society owes much to the dedication of members who have served as secretaries and is assured by the recent appointment of Steve Roberts to that office.
We hold four meetings each year at prestigious golf clubs in Surrey that have stood the test of time for their commitment to tradition and culinary excellence. We embrace a cross section of discerning members from around the globe including the USA, Canada, and even Essex. Members are encouraged to invite guests who compete for their own prizes and this is the traditional route to full membership. We welcome all levels of ability and our unique handicap system dictates that eventually every member will lift the winners trophy and shortly thereafter the booby prize.

Given our 65 year history we've had our fair share of visits from the grim reaper and we therefore constantly strive to maintain our membership levels by inducting new candidates. Applications are by members invitation and our doors are open to all creeds and ethnic backgrounds but please, to preserve our integrity, no solicitors, accountants or estate agents. Resignations, other than for health reasons, must be submitted in writing to the Chairman of the escape committee.
